Oregon Backyard Wedding
Shooting an Oregon Backyard Wedding felt like a dream.
I like details.
Details as in nature, like the type of flowers you can smell, or the sky on your wedding day.
Details as in things that tell the story of the couple.
Details as pretty things.
Sometimes, though, because of the business side of being a wedding photographer, it’s easy to lose track of the one thing that matter: it’s not supposed to be pretty (it can and it’s nice when it is, but it’s not what it’s about). It certainly is not supposed to be perfect.
It’s supposed to be a day when two people come in front of those they love and claim how they love each other. It’s about a choice they’re making. And then it’s about love, family, friends and celebration.
I love details but details are just part of the story, not the center.
Caitlin and Max’s wedding was about them and how much they love each other. It was an emotional day that I was so happy to be a part of! They got married at her parent’s house and during the ceremony, they had the guests passing around the rings in order to put their wishes into them. Caitlin and Max had told me that they wanted to capture the beauty of the area because they both cared for the Oregon coast. So we got in the car, changed shoes to running ones and we hiked to the beach, through the amazing forrest.
Some people feel fake, you know? You meet them and they are either too perfect or just wearing something that you can’t see but feel prevents you from connecting with them. With Caitlin and Max, it was the exact opposite. I felt like I knew them, like we were old friends. I wanted to capture the sweetness of their relationship and the beauty of their hearts through the one of nature.
C + M, thank you for allowing me to capture this for you. It was truly wonderful to witness your love.
